The Toyota Auris is a small hatchback derived from the Corolla. Introduced in 2006, the Auris, in Europe at least, is sold as the replacement for the Corolla hatchback. As for the current model, it’s sold in North America, Japan and even Australia.
Now, Toyota is working on a whole new generation version. With every 4th Toyota sold in Europe being a hybrid and a sales-figure of over 78,000 hybrid Auris, the next-gen model is going to be an important car for the Japanese brand.
We recently spied the all-new car undergoing some first tests in northern Spain. Once the new car is ready, it will be based on Toyota’s TGNA platform. Engines and transmissions are likely to be carried over from the still-new C-HR. The current generation model, introduced in 2012, is available in petrol, diesel and hybrid form and sold in several markets globally.
