New Tata Tigor launched: Why should you buy?

Tata Motors has introduced a refreshed version of its popular compact sedan the Tigor in India. The compact sedan gets a fresh set of cosmetic and feature upgrades, while mechanically it continues to be powered by existing petrol and diesel engine options. The vehicle is available in five petrol and four diesel engine options. The XE, XM, XZ and XZ+ variants are available in petrol as well as diesel variants, while the petrol version additionally gets an XZA variant.

    What’s good about it?

The car now looks fresh with a new grille, newly designed alloy wheels and new tail lamps which get crystal design elements. Tata Motors has introduced an updated seven-inch infotainment system with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay compatibility. Depending on the variant, the vehicle gets different combinations for the AC vent surround and fascia bezel. The top-spec petrol variant gets titanium colour faux leather seats. The new Tigor now also gets dual front airbags as standard while ABS with EBD and stability control are offered on the XZ and XZ+ variants.

What’s not so good about it?

The new Tigor does offer an adequate set of features over its predecessor. The vehicle is offered with dual airbags as standard, however, ABS with EBD is limited to the XZ and XZ+ variants. The automatic option is limited to the top spec petrol XZA variant.

    Best variant to buy

The Tigor XZ+ is a good option as it comes loaded with features in both petrol and diesel engine options. For those keen on an automatic option, the XZA variant is a good choice.

    1.2-litre - 84bhp @ 6000rpm and 114Nm @ 3500rpm – five-speed manual and five-speed automatic option
