Post its world debut at the Paris Motor Show in 2014, the new Suzuki Vitara has arrived in China at the ongoing Auto Shanghai 2015. Ever since the launch of the original model in 1988, the Vitara series has earned acclaim for its compact, city-oriented dimensions and genuine off-road capability.
The latest generation Vitara has smaller dimensions to meet modern needs and incorporates the brand’s ALLGRIP four-wheel-drive system as an option. Standard equipment on all models include seven airbags, 16-inch alloy wheels, audio system with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control with speed limiter, auto air conditioning, front and rear electric windows and projector headlamps. More expensive versions add 17-inch silver painted alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, smartphone link audio and navigation system.
The top-spec model, meanwhile, ends up with LED projector headlights, 17-inch polished alloy wheels, key less entry with start button, adaptive cruise control, Radar Brake Support and panoramic sunroof.
The Vitara is now powered by Suzuki’s M16A 1.6-litre petrol engine or the D16AA 1.6-litre DDiS engine. While the latter develops 120bhp of power and 320Nm of torque, the petrol engine puts out similar power but makes do with 156Nm of torque.
Suzuki has announced that prices and specifications for the China-spec Vitara will be available closer to the official launch.
