Suzuki will launch the new Alto for the Japanese market on December 22. The set of images reveal the car’s new design, however, the prices of the different variants are still not known.
This new Alto's fascia is completely refreshed and the vehicle now gets a retro-looking grille and a straightforward bumper. The quadrilateral-shaped inserts house the rectangular and circular dual set of headlamps, while the grille gets asymmetrical slats. The crease on the shoulder line flows in a straight line until it is swept upwards near the rear window. There seems to be another version, which gets a dual tone paint scheme, a bonnet scoop and dual fog lamps on the bumper.
The updated sporty looking Alto might be powered by the same engine option powering the old Alto. This means, the 660cc, three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 54bhp of power and 63Nm of torque might continue to power the refreshed Alto. Transmission options could include the five-speed manual or four-speed automatic gearbox. Reports suggest that the company might offer the car in a four-wheel-drive model as well.
This new Suzuki Alto is expected to give a better fuel efficiency than the previous version of the Alto that premiered at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show. Apart from the standard vehicle, a turbocharged version is also speculated to be offered. This iteration of the Alto is different from the one Maruti Suzuki recently launched in India. The Indian model created a huge excitement when launched and is also offered with an AMT gearbox.
