The 2014 Mahindra Scorpio facelift has been constantly in the news in recent times thanks to its test mules being spotted a lot of times by various publications. Here is another spy shot of the upcoming vehicle that shows the front fascia of the SUV with projector headlamps. The pictures have been sent to us by Sandeep Ingole, a reader of CarWale.
The new Scorpio gets a comprehensive facelift though the basic body shell remains the same. The fascia is expected to get LED DRLs apart from the projector headlamps. The redesigned exterior also includes a revised grille, newly designed bumper and LED tail lamps.
The host of changes extends to the interiors of the Scorpio which will now get better materials, more coherent design and better equipment which will make the Scorpio even more value for money. The feel of the cabin will be more premium than the present model, being much closer or better than the interiors of the XUV 500. The steering wheel has been lifted directly from the XUV 500 with better integrated controls. The instrument cluster is new, the air-conditioner vents are redesigned and the centre console gets a new multimedia system.
The vehicle is expected to be powered by the same 2.2-litre mHawk engine that the present Scorpio is equipped with, however, this mill might be tuned to deliver better power delivery and economy figures. The last time our spy-photographers spotted the upgraded vehicle testing, they reported the SUV to be doing speeds in excess of 100kmph quite comfortably. We also expect the ride quality of the car to be improved.
This update to the Mahindra Scorpio will be a major makeover to the vehicle which has been doing well in the Indian car market. The company will try to position the new Scorpio as a more upmarket SUV, though we do not expect Mahindra to price is considerably high than the current model of the Scorpio.
