Renault launched the Kwid AMT in 1.0-litre top-end RXT (O) variant. Priced at Rs 4.25 lakh, the new variant does not get any major upgrade except for a new Easy-R gearbox. Renault has introduced the segment first Shift Control AMT Dial (Reverse-Neutral-Drive modes) instead of the conventional gearshift pattern.
The Kwid AMT continues to be powered by a 1.0L SCe engine which generates 67bhp of power and 91Nm of torque. The automaker claims that the new model returns a fuel efficiency figure of 24.04kmpl. Renault states that the advanced control unit automatically optimizes gear shifting in accordance with driving conditions for smooth and regular acceleration to offer a comfortable and stress-free driving experience.
As for the interior, the new Kwid AMT gets the infotainment system and upholstery from the regular manual version, while the only change here is the absence of a gearstick in form of a control dial which sits below infotainment system. The 7-inch touch-screen media-nav system offers Bluetooth connectivity, satellite navigation and iPhone and iPod operation. Additionally, the instrument cluster with an onboard digital trip computer reads out gear shift details, distance to empty and more.
Renault boasts about Kwid offering best-in-class exterior dimensions for a big car feel and class leading wheelbase of 2,422mm. Moreover, the automaker claims that the Kwid comes with impressive boot space of 300-litres which can be extended to 1,115-litres. With the fresh addition, the Kwid sales in the country is definitely expected to see a manifold increase in the coming days.
