- To be built at the new Renault/Dacia facility in Russia
- Will be Renault’s first Coupe-SUV
- Might be considered for India to replace the Captur
Renault has been working on coupe SUV and according to the latest reports, the all-new product is set to debut at the Moscow international auto show in the first week of September. The new SUV will start its production run in Russia and will then extend to the upcoming markets like Brazil and South-east Asia.
This will be the first ever coupe-SUV from the French car-maker and it might be based on the Duster or Kaptur platform. It might also be the first of its kind in the budget segment globally. For the developing markets, where coupe SUVs are generally too high-up on the price index, the budget c-SUV might turn out to be a hot-seller.
Also, it will be economical if it is powered by the bulletproof 1.5-litre K9K Dci engine that develops about 110bhp of power and comes mated to a six-speed manual as well as an AMT option that is offered in India. The Coupe-SUV certainly makes sense for the Indian market, especially after the Captur hasn’t been able to gain as much footing as expected. If the c-SUV is based on the Duster, it can ideally compete against the likes of the Compass and the upcoming Tata H5X.
