Land Rover is currently known for the Evoque, the Discovery and the Range Rover line-up of luxurious yet capable SUVs. Now however, the brand is set to introduce an entirely new model called the Vellar.
The Velar is set to be unveiled on March 1 as the third member of the Range Rover line-up. The origin of the Velar name (pronounced vel-ar) dates back to the first Range Rover prototypes of the 1960s. When development engineers needed to hide the true identity of the 26 pre-production Range Rovers, they chose the name Velar.
Coming back to the upcoming vehicle, the Velar is set to be positioned as the bigger sibling of the Evoque which is currently the most stylish premium crossover in the market. The former, then, will offer more of the same albeit in a more luxurious package.
Full details of the Range Rover Velar will be announced on 1 March 2017.
