The famous Goodwood Festival of Speed is currently live and with 21 new car debuts, this year’s festival is one of the busiest in its history. We have set our attention on one of these 21 cars which is the new Mini John Cooper Works edition.
The John Cooper Works edition usually represents the extreme end of performance motoring from Mini. Based on the latest-generation Mini 3-door hatch, the new John Cooper Works edition is the most powerful production Mini ever.
The John Cooper Works edition distinguishes itself from the rest of the Mini range with the help of a powerful turbocharged engine, race-prepped suspension and an aerodynamically optimised exterior design.
The car has been fitted with the most powerful engine in Mini’s history, a 2-litre, four-cylinder turbo unit with 231bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. The engine can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Mini claims a zero to 100kmph sprint time of 6.3 seconds and 6.1 seconds for the manual and automatic gearboxes respectively.
The Mini John Cooper Works edition is on sale in the UK, with prices ranging between £23,050 (Rs 22.77 lakh) and £24,380 (Rs 24.08 lakh) for the six-speed manual and the six-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox model respectively.
