Mini has launched its high performance Cooper JCW model in India at Rs 43.50 lakhs. It’s a high performance model and sits right at the top of the Cooper range. There is one 2.0-litre petrol engine and multiple colour options available.
Exterior design highlights of the Mini Cooper JCW comprise the larger than life muscular front bumper, 17-inch wheels, Union Jack style tail lamps, chrome tail pipe tips and the JCW special spoiler. Inside, it is standard Mini fare but with some extra flair in the form of contrast coloured inserts on the dashboard and seats and leather upholstery. The standard offering also includes a touchscreen infotainment system, climate control and shiny high quality plastics all around.
There’s whole load of additional accessories that you can buy for the JCW Cooper and these are mostly along the lines of design elements and lighting packages but also includes adaptive suspension and navigation. Powering the Cooper JCW is a 2.0-litre turbo petrol producing 228bhp/320Nm. The Indian market only gets the option of an eight-speed AT while in some other foreign markets, it also can be availed with a six-speed manual.
The Rs 43.50 lakhs price bracket means the Cooper JCW sits in a place of its own far away from the other cars it usually rivals. In terms of pure performance, you may consider the Volkswagen GTI and the Skoda Octavia RS. However, this price bracket is mostly filled with massive SUVs like the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tiguan, Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. One should also look at cars like the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA and the Audi Q3.
