Blacked out accents are in style and Mercedes knows it very well and hence offers a ‘Night Package’ with almost all of its cars. The Night Package gets blacked out grilles, headlamps, tail lamps, mirrors and details inside the car as well.
Mercedes-Benz has already showcased a Night package with the all-new G-Wagon, which debuted at the Detroit Auto Show about a week ago. You get the hood mounted turn indicators, headlamps and tail lamps tinted dark along with the window glass panes. The Obsidian black trim extends to the front grille slats, bumper details, wing mirrors and the spare tyre cover as well.
Along with more highlights of black all around, it even gets black-accented 20-inch multi-spoke alloys. The Black Package will most probably offered with only the AMGs to start with and might trickle down to the regular trims, in due course of time. But, quite surprisingly, Mercedes seems to have decided against offering the Night Package with a black coloured car.
There are quite a few takers for the black-on-black theme, especially in the exclusive AMG trims and we certainly think the all-black scheme of colours would look radical on the new G. Unless of course, Mercedes is planning to make a special all-black edition somewhere down the line. Well, they do have time to think their strategy out with the 2019 model all set to arrive by the end of the year.
