Mercedes-Benz has officially pulled the covers off the new-gen E-Class for India, with prices starting at Rs. 78.50lakh (ex-showroom). Notably, India is the only market to receive the sixth-generation car in the LWB form and RHD format. It is available in three versions and with two petrol and one diesel engine option.
In terms of powertrains, the new E-Class is propelled by 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and diesel engine options paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. A nine-speed automatic gearbox is available across the range. Mercedes also made a surprise entry at the launch by also introducing E450 petrol 4MATIC that has been priced at Rs, 92.50 lakh. Bookings for the 200 and 220d have opened with immediate effect while the same for E450 4MATIC will open in November. The new E-Class competes against the BMW 5 Series and the Audi A6.
On the outside, the 2024 E-Class gets new LED headlamps, flush-fitting door handles, fresh grille with the three-pointed star design, 3D star design LED taillights, and 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels. There are five colours to choose from - High Tech Silver, Graphite Grey, Polar White, Obsidian Black, and Nautic Blue.\
The interior is where the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class has the most to boast of. A few highlights are the 14.4-inch touchscreen unit, fully digital driver's display, latest MBUX system, four-zone climate control, digital vent control, and rear seat recline function. Further, it gets 64-colour ambient lighting, electric blinds for the second row, a panoramic sunroof, a power closing function for all doors, and a Burmester-sourced music system. Also up for offer is the carmaker's signature Hyperscreen that spans the length of the dashboard.
