Mercedes-Benz will launch the next-generation C63 AMG in 2015. A report from inautonews quotes an official from the company who says that the car will see the light of the next year and that it will be offered with a V8 engine in place of the current car’s 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V12.
The new V8 will be a twin turbo unit that has been created by mating the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine from the A45, CLA45 and soon-to-be-launched GLA45 AMG spec cars.it is expected to make use of a 7G tronic automatic gearbox and is likely to have a total output of just over 500bhp and around 700Nm of torque.
Since the S63 AMG and S65AMG share many common features and looks with the 2014 S-Class, we expect that the C63AMG will share much of its looks and design philosophy as well as interior features with the recently unveiled 2015 C-Class. Rather strangely, since the 2015 C-Class shares its appearance with the 2014 S-Class we expect an odd situation of five cars (S-Class, S63AMG, S65AMG, C-Class and the C63AMG) that look almost the same but in different sizes and give obviously different performance figures.
The Indian market is expected to get the new C-Class in 2015 so we can expect that new C63 AMG will reach our shores only by the end of 2015. We can also expect that the Chinese market will get a long-wheelbase version of this vehicle when it is launched.
