Mercedes-Benz will launch the new C-Class for the Indian market on November 25. The car was unveiled in early 2014 and has been on sale in the European and American market for about six months now. It follows a similar design language as the 2014 S-Class but gets revised interior and is based on a new platform.
The 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class will be brought to the Indian market via the CBU route and the C200 CGI petrol variant. As is customary with Mercedes-Benz launching a new model in India, the new C-Class is expected to have a limited release Edition 1/Exclusive Edition which in all probability will have a body kit, AMG-spec wheels and an Avantgarde grille. The engine will be the 2.0-litre four-pot petrol which produces 184bhp and 300Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via the 7G Tronic AT gearbox.
It is expected to begin local production of the car sometime next year and will then introduce its more popular and obviously higher selling C200 CDI. This car is powered by a 2.2-litre four-pot oil burner that produces 170bhp and 400Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via the 7G Tronic AT gearbox.
The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class will no longer be the baby Benz in India with that role going to the MFA underpinned CLA sedan. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 38 lakh to Rs 45 lakh and will compete with the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and the soon-to be-launched Jaguar XE sedan.
