- Fresh design upgrades and new interior
- Likely to get new powertrain options
- Company also developing a seven-seater crossover based on the new-generation Ertiga
For a while now speculations have been doing rounds stating that the Japanese car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, has been working on a premium SUV, the new Vitara for the Indian market. Ahead of its anticipated debut sometime in 2019, the new Vitara, based on the global Suzuki Vitara has been spotted testing in the country. It is believed that the upcoming model will compete against the likes of the Hyundai Creta in India.
As seen in images, the new Suzuki Vitara features body-coloured door handles, diamond-cut alloy wheels, a clam-shell bonnet and ORVMS with integrated bonnet. Although engine details are not known for now, reports indicate that the company might also introduce new powertrain options. Internationally, the vehicle is available with three engine options - 1.6-litre petrol and diesel, and a 1.4-litre Boosterjet petrol engine.
Reports further indicate that the company is also working on developing a seven-seater crossover based on the new-generation Ertiga. While further details of the new Suzuki Vitara are yet to be revealed, we expect it to be offered with front airbags and ABS with EBD as standard at the time of its launch. The vehicle is also expected to be offered with more features and premium upholstery over its predecessor.
