The much-awaited Maruti Suzuki Baleno has been spotted at a dealer yard, ahead of its official launch later this month. Shown first at the recently held Frankfurt Motor Show, the new Baleno is an entirely new model developed for emerging markets like India.
The all-new Baleno features Suzuki’s new design language and is a fresh departure from Maruti Suzuki’s existing line-up sold here in India. When launched, it will be positioned in the premium hatchback segment. Given its premium positioning, the top-spec Baleno will come with high-end features such as the start-stop button, SAT-NAV, touch-screen music system, rear camera and projector headlights as standard.
Globally, Suzuki is offering its newly developed 1-litre turbocharged petrol engine, however, for the Indian market Maruti Suzuki will continue with the familiar 1.2-litre naturally aspirated K-Series petrol engine as well as a Fiat-derived 1.3-litre turbo diesel engine.
The new Baleno will officially arrive with prices expected to range between Rs 5.30 lakh and Rs 8.25 lakh. It will compete with other premium hatchbacks such as the Hyundai Elite i20 and the Honda Jazz.
