Mahindra has launched the new Thar CRDe for Rs. 8.03 lakh ex-showroom Nashik. The facelift comes after almost five years after the launch of the first Thar CRDe in December 2010. The new car will be available for sale in Mahindra dealerships starting today.
The new Thar carries forward the evergreen look of a classic jeep while adding subtle changes. The front and rear bumpers have been redesigned to give it a dual tone look. The headlamps are now clear lens to improve visibility for night driving. The interiors have been worked upon to make the Thar easier to live with.
The dual tone dashboard with tweaked AC vents has a provision for a 2-Din music system and houses the new three pod instrument cluster. The seats have been worked upon for comfort and so has been the steering wheel and the gear knob. The Thar gets new door trims and a floor console with cup holders. The glove box can now be locked and the canopy of the soft-top can be removed. Mahindra also offers the Thar with a hard top option.
The Thar CRDe is powered by the same 2.5L common rail diesel engine that churns out 105bhp and 247Nm torque delivered through a 5-speed gearbox. There are no mechanical changes except for the addition of the mechanical rear differential lock that has been included as per increasing consumer demand. The Thar DI does not get these upgrades as of now looking at the price sensitivity of the buyers.
