Mahindra, as we know, has just launched a new variant of the Scorpio. However, it’s not an all-new top-spec trim but one that’s positioned a couple of notches below. It’s called S9 and is currently priced at Rs 13.99 lakhs, ex-showroom, Delhi. Here’s what you get in the latest addition to the Scorpio range.
Mechanically, the S9 variant is powered by the 140bhp version of the mHawk diesel motor. Paired to a six-speed manual gearbox, this engine develops 320Nm of torque and offers more than enough grunt for all occasions. As for the all-important features, you get a touchscreen infotainment system, projector headlamps, LED light guides, GPS navigation, parking sensors, climate control, cruise control, gas struts for the hood and turn indicators on wing mirrors.
In terms of safety, the S9 variant comes with dual front airbags, ABS, fog lamps and an immobilizer. One could say that this variant is feature-packed although it does miss out on some crucial equipment. For instance, it doesn’t get all-wheel drive and it’s a manual-only variant. Also missing are alloy wheels, reverse camera, rain-sensing wipers and automatic headlamps. Nonetheless, the S9 variant is good value considering the fact that it is only Rs 50,000 more expensive than the S7 and gets plenty of features as standard.
