First introduced in 2007, the Mahindra Getaway is due for an upgrade. The Scorpio-based pick-up is sold as Pik-Up in a few international markets like Australia and South Africa.
It remains to be seen whether the new Getaway will make use of the current Scorpio’s lightened, hydroformed chassis. The vehicle will be powered by the familiar 2.2-litre, four-cylinder mHawk diesel engine making 120bhp and 280Nm of torque. It will also use a 5-speed gearbox and come with four-wheel-drive.
In terms of design, the front of the pick-up will be identical to the new Scorpio. This means it will get double barrel headlamps with DRLs. The rear of the car gets older Scorpio’s taillights and not the ones on the updated model. The side profile, meanwhile, is very similar to that of the last Getaway.
We expect the new Getaway to go on sale later this year. Look forward to this space for official prices and specifications.
