Land Rover has just made it official that its new Ingenium diesel engine range will be introduced to the new Discovery Sport. Following its launch in September 2014, the mid-size SUV will now be available with the 2-litre Ingenium diesel motor.
The Discovery Sport’s Ingenium engine will be available with two power outputs, 150bhp and 180bhp. It features lightweight construction, with stiff cylinder blocks and decoupled injectors, which ensures low levels of vibration and noise intrusion.
The Ingenium-powered 150bhp-spec Discovery Sport will get a blue ‘Sport’ badge, highlighting the most efficient variant. It will also feature 18-inch wheels with low rolling resistance tyres.
Land Rover is expected to launch the new Discovery Sport in India later this year. The mid-size SUV will be locally assembled via the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route at Land Rover’s Pune facility before its official arrival.
