Do not confuse this Discovery with the Discovery Sport that was introduced back in 2015. This is the fifth-generation of the Discovery SUV that follows a similar design language.
The exterior design of the Discovery has radically changed compared to its previous model. The new one features more sculpted surfaces.
Up front, the SUV sports jewel-like head lights with DRLs to give it a modern look. The car sports nicely contoured bumpers and a raked windshield too.
At the rear, you will notice that this new car breaks the earlier model's tradition of a split arrangement tailgate.
Breaking from the last four generations of the Discovery's design, the 2017 iteration sports LED tail lamps with a new shape. These have a horizontal emphasis to give it a sporty avatar.
The new Discovery rides on a full sized Land Rover SUV platform made of aluminium. This provides a lightweight yet durable architecture for better performance.
The latest full-sized SUV from the British marque's stable gets a very versatile interior. Its cabin is capable of seating up to seven full-size adults.
The car is feature-packed and gets a console with minimal switchgear. It is designed to remain intuitive and also reduce driver distraction.
To add to a luxurious and premium feel there is a wide variety of material finishes that one can opt for. The ambient lighting is configurable too.Â
A new clever system reconfigures the second and third row seats at the touch of a button. Apart from the switches one can adjust it via the infotainment touchscreen, or even remotely using a smartphone.
Powering the Si6 petrol version of the new Land Rover Discovery is a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine producing 335bhp of power and 450Nm of torque.
The TdV6 diesel trim, on the other hand, comes powered by the 3.0-litre six-cylinder motor churning out 254bhp and 600Nm of torque.
Torque for both engines is delivered through all four-wheels through an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.
Land Rover India is offering the Discovery in SE, HSE, HSE Luxury and First Edition trim levels. A total of 10 variants.
