- Will arrive along with the EV9 electric SUV
- Expected to be powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine
Ahead of its launch, which is slated to take place on 3 October, the new Kia Carnival for India has been teased for the first time. Notably, it will be introduced in the local market alongside the all-new EV9 flagship electric SUV.
As seen in the teasers, the 2024 Kia Carnival will get two sunroofs - one each for the front-row and second-row occupants. The cabin will also get a new dual-screen setup housing one display each for the touchscreen unit and the driver’s display.
Exterior highlights of the new Carnival will include a fresh fascia with a new grille, vertically stacked LED headlamps, inverted L-shaped LED DRLs, contrast-coloured skid plates, LED light bar on the tailgate, new alloy wheels, fresh roof-rails, and a shark-fin antenna.
Inside, the MPV is likely to come equipped with an ADAS suite, new three-spoke steering wheel, 14.6-inch screens for the second-row occupants, a touch unit for AC controls that also doubles up as infotainment controls, digital IRVM, and a heads-up display. It remains to be seen which seating layout is offered for the India-spec car. Globally, it is available with seven-, nine-, and 11-seat options.
Under the hood, the next-gen Kia Carnival could be powered by the same 2.2-litre diesel engine producing 197bhp and 440Nm of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Sources suggest that the model will initially be introduced as a CBU version, with a CKD setup to follow shortly after.
