Hyundai India has just introduced the latest-gen Verna with two new variants powered by a 1.4-litre petrol engine. Priced at Rs 7.79 lakhs for the entry level E variant, the Verna 1.4 petrol is now on sale alongside the existing 1.6-litre diesel and petrol variants. Â
The smaller motor is a 1.4-litre Kappa engine developing 100bhp at 6,000rpm and 132Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. Hyundai claims the fuel efficiency to be improved by eight per cent over the 1.6 variant, at 19.1kmpl.Â
The Verna with the 1.4-litre petrol engine will be offered in two variants - E and EX with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Introduced in August 2017, the new Verna has managed to sell in big numbers, with over 30,000 bookings and over 10,500 units of export order from global markets.
It’s positioned in the same price bracket as the Honda City and the Volkswagen Vento. In recent years, the sales numbers of the Verna had not been on par with that of the Honda City in India. Hyundai though, has managed to change that with the new Verna which is now one of the top selling premium sedans in India.
