    New Hyundai Tucson variants explained

The premium crossover segment has just gained a new competitor in the form of the all-new Hyundai Tucson. Having sold the first-gen model well over a decade ago, Hyundai India has reintroduced the Tucson nameplate with this third-gen model which is available in two engine options and in three variants. Here’s a breakup of the entire Tucson range.

Tucson 2WD MT - Rs 18.99 lakh (petrol) and Rs 21.59 lakh (diesel)
The Tucson range for India begins with the 2WD MT variant. Available in both petrol and diesel guise, the 2WD MT is fairly loaded for the price. Standard equipment in here includes projector headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, silver chrome grille, roof rails, dual tone interiors, cloth upholstery, 17-inch alloy wheels, manual AC, electrically foldable wing mirrors, automatic headlights, puddle lamps, cruise control, 60:40 split and recline function for the rear seat. Hyundai is also offering its latest 8-inch touchscreen audio system with GPS and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay connectivity. In terms of safety, you get dual airbags, ABS with EBD and speed sensing door locks.

Tucson 2WD AT GL – Rs 21.79 lakh (petrol) and Rs 23.48 lakh (diesel)
Move up the grade and you could have the Tucson in the 2WD AT GL variant. As you may have guessed, this is the automatic variant. Besides the convenience of an automatic gearbox, the GL variant gets some additional equipment over the entry-level 2WD MT variant. For starters, you get static bending halogen headlamps, a chrome grille, leather upholstery, chrome tip controls on door armrest, bigger 18-inch diamond-cut style alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, 10-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, compass on internal rear-view mirror and key less entry with push button start. The GL variant also gets different Drive modes, front parking sensors and up to six airbags.

Tucson 2WD AT GLS – Rs 24.99 lakh (diesel)
Sitting at the top of the Tucson range is the 2WD AT GLS variant which is only available with diesel power. Naturally, this most expensive variant of the new Tucson is fully loaded. The car, in fact, gets exclusive features like dual barrel LED headlamps, LED static bending lights, LED rear lights, a different instrument cluster, electric tailgate and an electronic parking brake. Hyundai hasn’t skimped on safety either, with standard kit including electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill assist and downhill brake assist.
