- PHEV might get 2.0-litre petrol engine
- All new hybrid powertrain might be developed
Hyundai has introduced the all-new Santa Fe globally and like always, it should come to India soon enough. And with India looking forward to hybrids and electrics, we have good news, because the new Santa Fe will have hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
The Santa Fe is already offered with the 2.2-litre 197bhp diesel internationally, which was the same engine that was offered in India as well. The hybrid mill though, might be newly developed for the Santa Fe. The PHEV powertrain might be shared with the Kia Optima along with its 2.0-litre petrol engine.
The all-new Santa Fe looks modern and aggressive, and unlike the rounded version that was being sold in India, the design is much more palatable. Also, along with the new looks, there is the new cabin layout and Hyundai’s extensive feature-list. We expect Hyundai to bring in the new Santa Fe some time in 2019, but the hybrid version will come if the demand for hybrids and PHEVs goes up.
