Hyundai recently updated the sportier version of the i30 and the car was spotted testing outside Nürburgring. Given that the i30 is already a premium offering from the company, the i30 N sits above it with a more powerful drive train on offer. The letter ‘N’ in the name is derived from the Hyundai’s NAMYANG R&D facility situated in south of Seoul. It also hints at Hyundai’s dedicated test centre at the Nürburgring.
The highly camouflaged vehicle does display a few facelifted attributes such as horizontally mounted daytime running lights, sporty larger grille with larger air intake and a greater rim size. On the rear end of the vehicle is a sporty spoiler and restyled bumper with twin exhaust tail setup.
In addition to that, the i30 N will also be equipped with a driver-focused power steering, stiffer mounts for the drivetrain and tweaked front suspensions with new front axle mountings to live up to the ‘N’ badge in the name.
The Hyundai i30 N has been spied upon for months now, but the power figure is still a well-kept secret. The hot hatch is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre in-line four engine which will be capable of producing over 250bhp. A six speed manual gearbox will be a standard offering although an automatic could be optional.
The i30 N could be the Korean manufacturers attempt to claim the title of the ‘fastest front wheel drive car around Nürburgring’ and to shatter the records set by the Honda Civic Type-R.
