In an effort to further strengthen its foothold in India, Hyundai has been working on a new hatchback for the Indian market. Reports indicate that this might be the new Santro which is speculated to be launched next year. The upcoming vehicle is expected to be positioned between the Eon and the Grand i10 in India.
Although mechanical details are not known for now, the upcoming hatchback might share the 1.0-litre Kappa engine with the Eon. Initially it might be limited to a five speed manual transmission option while the AMT could be introduced on a later date. Anticipated to be the new Santro, the test mule also features a tall boy stance, larger window panes and is likely to offer more space than its predecessor.   Â
It is believed that Hyundai might introduce its new hatchback at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo Event. The Santro being a volume generating yesteryear product for the company, its relaunch will mean further pushing its sales positively. Known to be a competitive player, Hyundai is likely to price the upcoming hatchback under Rs 4 lakhs. More details about the vehicle will be known in the days to come.
