Korean auto giant Hyundai has decided to go with a new sales strategy to strengthen its global market presence. The strategy involves increasing its sales by launching a range of new car models designed to appeal to a specific set of markets. One such model is the next-generation Elantra which is expected to go on sale in Korea next year.
The Elantra, which is sold as the Avante in select markets, is due for a major revamp. Hyundai is currently at work, developing the upcoming generation model and going by the reports, the car may well benefit from the brand’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy.
Besides a new exterior design and a completely revised cabin, the next-gen Elantra is expected to come with the reworked set of the existing petrol and diesel engines; which means the1.8-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel units would be made available for the upcoming model.
The Elantra competes in the D-segment sedan market, with cars like the Toyota Corolla Altis, Chevrolet Cruze and Skoda Octavia. With the next-gen model coming in 2015, Hyundai will optimistically be able to compete better in the given market place with the rest of the established brands.
