Hyundai had unveiled the Elantra facelift at the 2015 Dubai international motor show. The new model which caught the fancy of many will finally be launched in India by the middle of this year.
The 2016 Elantra will be offered in two petrol and one diesel engine option. Customers keen on petrol can opt for the 1.6-litre GDi or 2.0-litre MPi engine option, while the diesel variant will be offered in only as the 1.6-litre VGT CRDi engine. The diesel will get a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission option while the petrol variant will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and six-speed automatic transmission option. The new model claims to offer improved safety with its new built consisting of 53 per cent Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS).
The 2016 Hyundai Elantra does not fail to mesmerise with its aggressive stance. Based on the Fluidic 2.0 design philosophy, the new Elantra also carries forth its identical sharp body contours. Moreover, its sloping roof design adds to its overall charm. The rear section gets two a piece taillight,, while the front features projector headlamps with integrated DRLs and a hexagonal front grille. The new model will compete against the likes of Toyota Corolla Altis, Chevrolet Cruze and the Skoda Octavia.
The official pricing aspect is not known for now, however, we believe that Hyundai may price the new Elantra between Rs 15 – Rs 19 lakh (Ex-showroom) to outdo the competition. The 2016 model will sport all new interiors, while additionally offering 25mm extra width and 20mm longer length than the older model.
