As expected, the euphoria around the new Honda Civic has fizzled out as the sedan could only manage sales of 369 units in April. In comparison, the Civic had registered sales of 2,291 units in March. Nonetheless, despite the slump sales, the Civic has managed to outsell its the contenders by a considerable margin.
For instance, the Skoda Octavia managed sales of 227 units last month, while the Toyota Corolla Altis registered 177 unit sales in April. On the other hand, Korean carmaker Hyundai could only sell 85 units of the Elantra in the corresponding month. Launched in March 2019, the Civic has bagged over 2,000 bookings in the country.
The tenth-generation Honda Civic is available with a 140bhp/174Nm 1.8-litre petrol motor that is mated to a CVT. It also gets a 1.6-litre turbocharged diesel that is only offered with a six-speed manual. It makes 119bhp of power and 300Nm of peak torque. The sedan is priced between Rs 17.70 lakhs to Rs 22.30 lakhs (ex-showroom India).
