A spy shot of Honda’s next generation Civic saloon being tested in Thailand has surfaced on the internet. This confirms the rumours that Thailand will get the same body style of the Honda Civic saloon that was launched in the US market in October.
Even though a silver wrap is seen over the exteriors of the car in an effort to hide the cars contours, the design lines are quite apparent. However, we noticed that this vehicle is fitted with a snazzy but minimalistic spoiler that is not seen on the US-spec car. Only time will tell if this wing turns out to be an optional accessory. Till date only the rear of the vehicle has been shot and it is identical to the Civic that’s sold in North America.
The US market gets a 2.0-litre four-cylinder VTEC engine with 158bhp and 187Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre turbo VTEC engine with 174bhp and 220Nm. These motors will most likely be coupled to a six-speed manual or a CVT gearbox.
Honda has not revealed any plans to revive the Civic brand in India and are presently concentrating on bringing in the Accord and the BR-V.
