BMW has said that it is working on a new range of luxury range of vehicles to rival the likes of the Maybach range from Mercedes-Benz. This new range will be positioned above their current flagship, the 7 Series and will have a significantly higher price tag.
The new generation 7 Series currently has the 760Li Excellence as its top-of-the-line variant. It debuted at the Geneva Motor Show and will be offered on sale within the next few months.
While it is currently not clear what the range will be called we do know this much that they are not likely to follow the same extended wheelbase formula as the Maybach range. This even hints at the possibility of an ultra-luxury SUV as well as a crossover.
BMW is likely to preview this new high end range through the 7 Series Centennial Edition which is slated to be showcased later this year to commemorate their 100th anniversary. This model will also bridge the gap between BMW's cars and Rolls-Royce, their ultra-luxurious marque.
