-Nameplate will return to India after a five year hiatus
-Both petrol and diesel power

-Showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo
-Rival to the likes of the Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra and Skoda Octavia
Honda has announced that the new generation of the Civic sedan will have its India launch in early 2019. This new generation car was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo and was announced as one of the four major products that the Japanese automaker would launch in India over the course of 2018 and 2019.
The previous generation Civic that was brought to India in late 2005 sent the country into a storm thanks to its futuristic looks and butter smooth petrol 1.8-litre engine. This new car will look to regain some of this glory in what is today a relatively small club of cars thanks to the influx of SUVs in this part of the market.
We have looked at this new Civic in terms of exterior design, interior design and mechanicals when it was unveiled at the Expo and you can read about that here. One of the biggest highlights for this new car will be a new diesel heart in the form of 1.6-litre four-cylinder diesel that recently made its debut with the CR-V SUV. It’s expected to be offered in the 120bhp/300Nm state of tune and mated to a nine-speed AT.
The car is expected to be a CKD and will take on the likes of the Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Corolla, Skoda Octavia as well as the Maruti Suzuki-badged Corolla.Â
