Volkswagen has officially teased the new-gen Touareg in time for its global reveal on 23 March 2018. The flagship SUV will make its debut in Beijing, which is Volkswagen’s biggest market today.
The Touareg is the most luxurious SUV in the German giant’s growing SUV portfolio. It will enter into its third generation now and move to the versatile MQB platform. Volkswagen says that the Touareg will embody everything the brand stands for and will come with extensive safety features, largest infotainment screen and connectivity options, air suspension, rear-wheel steering and roll stabilisation. We expect the Touareg to get autonomous aids and a hybrid powertrain as well.
The single teaser sketch conforms with the test mule of the SUV spotted on many occasions. The fascia seems to be similar to the Tiguan while the overall style is sharper than before. The slightly raked D-pillar with massive wheel arches will lend a sporty and masculine stance. No further details are available at the moment.
The new Touareg will get back in the fray of large SUVs against the Mercedes-Benz GLE, BMW X5, Audi Q7, Volvo XC90, Land Rover Discovery. Volkswagen might reintroduce the Touareg in India as well once it goes on sale internationally sometime later this year given the growing demands of SUVs in the country.
