Ahead of it’s unveiling at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo Event, Maruti Suzuki dealers have started accepting bookings unofficially for the third-gen Swift. It is believed that the new model might reach showrooms sometime by the end of February and is expected to attract a waiting period of over two months. Dealers have started accepting bookings for the vehicle at a token amount of Rs 11,000.
The company had recently stopped production for the current generation model to make way for the newer model. Mechanically, the vehicle is expected to continue being powered by a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine options. The petrol version will generate 83bhp of power and 114Nm of torque, while the diesel version will produce 75bhp of power and 190Nm of torque. It is believed that the new Swift will be available in four manual transmission and three AMT options.
The new-gen Maruti Swift will be based on the Maruti’s new lightweight and rigid HEARTECT design platform, which also underpins the new-gen Dzire. The hatchback will get a single frame grille, new headlamps with LED DRLs and LED taillights. The new model will also get a floating-style roof design with a blackened B-Pillar and sportier alloy wheels. Inside, the vehicle will get the flat-bottom steering wheel from the new Dzire along with a new infotainment system and more features.
Pricing and more details will be known around the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo event in the country. It is believed that the Indian car manufacturer might also introduce the SHVS technology on a later date.
