The current generation Ford Figo was introduced back in 2015. This time around, the Europe-bound 2018 Ford Figo was spotted testing in Brazil. The American car manufacturer has not revealed its plans for its India debut yet, but the car is unlikely to hit the Indian shores before 2019. Changes in this car will be limited to cosmetic and feature upgrades and the addition of an improved 1.5-litre Dragon engine for the European market.
As seen in pictures, the Figo test mule was heavily camouflaged. However, reports indicate that the new model will get redesigned headlamps and tweaked bumpers with lower air intakes on the front. The test mule also featured new deigned multi-spoke alloys in black, but we believe it might be offered as an optional with the top-spec version. As for the interiors, the 2018 Ford Figo might be offered with a touchscreen infotainment system, new central console and new upholstery.
In addition to the existing engine options, the 2018 Ford Figo slated for the European market, will also get the more powerful 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder Dragon petrol engine which will be offered in the new EcoSport as well. The Dragon petrol engine might also get an optional automatic transmission. However, if it is launched in India, it will be limited to the existing 1.2-litre petrol, 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options. Post launch, the new Ford Figo will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Tata Tiago and the Hyundai Grand i10 in India.
