- High-performance SUV prototypes out on public roads
- A new four-door electric coupe also incoming
First prototypes of the Mercedes-AMG SUV, which will be the second vehicle to be built on the fully electric AMG.EA architecture, have started cold-weather testing. The high-performance SUV is now at a stage wherein it can be tested on public roads and that marks a new era for Mercedes-AMG as we know it.
Mercedes is currently testing the new performance EV in northern Sweden, which is the same place where the four-door Mercedes-AMG coupe began its first testing earlier this year. Now, the high-performance SUV, announced a few weeks ago, will also undergo tests near the Arctic Circle.
The performance SUV will feature new developments in the all-electric architecture from Mercedes-AMG. This includes the use of axial-flux motors and a new high-performance battery concept. When launched, this new electric SUV will be sold in several markets globally, and given how popular Mercedes' AMG models are in India, Mercedes-Benz India is likely to bring it here eventually.
