What you see in the pictures is the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet that was caught testing. With the new E-Class already being sold in the international market in the saloon and wagon version, it certainly looks like the Cabriolet is in the process of receiving similar treatment.
This E-Class Cabriolet test mule looks very much like a C-Class, especially when you compare the headlights and grille, but the front bumper is unique to this test car. When viewed in profile, the unmistakeable soft top is visible and this should fold into the boot section, just like in the earlier car. Though the rear end of this test car is entirely camouflaged, the tail lamps can be seen to extend onto the boot lid.
Powering the new E-Class Cabriolet will be the 2.0-litre four cylinder turbocharged motor, and going by the brand’s current plan of placing an AMG badge on all cars, expect an AMG E43 Cabriolet version, to say the least. MB should reveal the E-Class Cabriolet after the new E-Class Coupe debuts globally in 2017.
