The seventh-generation Corvette ZO6 is the newest supercar from America which now proudly holds the title for the most powerful GM model ever built. When it comes to numbers, the new supercharged ZO6 – with 650bhp of power and 880Nm of torque – crushes the non-supercharged Corvette Stingray by a huge margin.
The standard Corvette Stingray, in fact, puts out 450bhp of power and 600Nm of torque, 190bhp and 251Nm down when compared to the new ZO6. The huge bump in power is mainly down to the addition of a supercharger for the LT4 6.2-litre V8 engine which features new aluminium cylinder heads, lightweight titanium intake valves and a stainless steel exhaust manifold.
Like its predecessors, the new Corvette ZO6 will be made in left-hand drive configuration only. The car will go on sale first in the USA, followed by some European markets early next year. Now, GM India had showcased the standard Corvette Stingray at the 2014 Auto Expo earlier this year. With its striking design and the iconic Corvette heritage, the car managed to draw a fair bit of crowd at the Expo. Unfortunately, GM India, despite the car’s popularity, has no immediate plans to introduce the Corvette brand in the Indian market.
