Toyota Kirloskar Corporation will launch the next-gen Corolla and Fortuner sometime this year, announced Hiroshi Nakagawa, Toyota's newly-appointed India head. The vehicles will be both imported and manufactured locally.
Among the products that are slated for India are models from Toyota's luxury brand, Lexus, and they may even consider launching low-cost cars from Daihatsu in the next few years. The Corolla will be priced from Rs 10-14 lakh and compete with the Civic, Jetta and Octavia, while the Fortuner will go up against the Grand Vitara, CR-V, Endeavour and Captiva, with a price band of Rs 15-19 lakh. We can't wait to get our hands on them, especially the Fortuner, which seems to balance on-road manners and off-road capability the best among the modern crop of SUVs.
