The onslaught of a fresh beginning will bring along a range of launches. We will be detailing the list for the entire year soon enough, but in this article, we take a look at the launches January 2025 has in store for us.
Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 450 five-seat
Mercedes-Benz will commence its innings in the new year with the launch of a new derivative in the EQS SUV range. Essentially a five-seater version of the electric SUV, the new EQS SUV 450 variant will be launched in India on 9 January.
Changes to the new offering, apart from the seating layout, will include a tweaked exterior design, new alloy wheels, air purifier, spare wheel, and luxury seats. The SUV will source power from a 122kW battery pack paired with two electric motors. The carmaker claims a higher range than the seven-seat version, although the finer details will be revealed at launch.
Mercedes-Benz EQG
Set to arrive alongside the new five-seat EQS SUV will be the production-ready avatar of the G-Class with EQ power, commonly known as the electric G-Class or G-Class EV. Pre-bookings of the model opened in mid-2024, and deliveries could begin in late 2025.
Propelling the new Mercedes-Benz EQG will be a 116kWh battery pack with four electric motors in tow (one on each wheel) producing a combined output of 579bhp and 1,164Nm with a claimed range of 479km on a single full charge. It will feature the popular tank-turn, which allows the vehicle to turn 360 degrees in one spot.
One of the highly anticipated products for 2025 will be the Hyundai Creta EV, scheduled to be launched in India at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo on 17 January. Based on the latest iteration in its ICE avatar, the electrified mid-size SUV will get EV-specific elements including a new grille, tweaked front and rear bumpers, aero wheels, and a redesigned centre console.
Hyundai has remained tight-lipped regarding the technical specifications of the Creta EV, although we expect it to feature a 60kWh battery pack paired with a single electric motor powering the front wheels. The car could go on to claim a range of 500km on a single full charge.
After having its world premiere in India earlier this month, Kia India will announce the prices of the Syros at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. Bookings of the B-SUV are scheduled to begin on 3 January, followed by deliveries in February 2025.
The Syros will be offered with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with six-speed manual and seven-speed DCT units, while the 1.5-litre diesel motor will come mated to six-speed manual and torque converter automatic units. Further, customers can choose from six variants and eight colours.
After taking the drapes off the new BE 6 earlier this year, Mahindra will announce the variant-wise prices of the new electric offering in January 2025. The futuristic-looking EV marks the fresh onslaught of EVs for the brand in the near future.
Under the hood, it packs 59kWh and 79kWh battery packs with a claimed range of up to 682km on a single full charge. Courtesy of 175kW fast charging support, the battery can be replenished from 20-80 per cent in a mere 20 minutes.
Joining the party at Mahindra with the BE6 will be the XEV 9e coupe SUV, the prices of which will be announced next month too. While it is underpinned by the brand’s INGLO architecture, the top hat is essentially an electrified and coupe version of the XUV700.
Similar to the BE6, the XEV 9e is loaded with features and technology, some of which include a Level 2 ADAS suite, 360-degree camera, six airbags, three screens dominating the dashboard, all-LED lighting, and second-row seats with recline function.
Tata Curvv special editions
While there will be multiple unveils at the Tata Motors pavilion, what we expect the Indian brand to launch next month are the special editions in the Curvv range. While details remain scarce at the moment, it is likely that the company will introduce the Dark Edition in the EV and ICE avatars. Alternatively, the petrol version could also get a CNG option.
The Cyberster will be MG’s halo product in India upon launch and will also mark the debut of the brand’s premium range of showrooms which will be called MG Select. The two-door EV roadster is expected to be priced between Rs 60-70 lakh (ex-showroom).
At the heart of the new Cyberster will be a 77kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 510km on a single full charge. The power output stands at 510bhp and 725Nm, while the car can sprint to 100kmph from a standstill in 3.2 seconds.
