BMW X1
BMW has launched the new generation X1 which rivals the Audi Q3 and the Mercedes GLA. The prices for the X1 start from Rs 29.9 lakh for the base Expedition two-wheel drive variant and goes all the way upto Rs 39.9 lakh for the top M-sport AWD model. Unlike the old car the new X1 gets an AWD option and also the base variants are the first BMWs in India to get front-wheel-drive.
The new generation X1 looks much more modern and looks quite aggressive than its outgoing model. It borrows styling cues from the X3 and now should also appeal to people looking for a good looking entry-level SUV.
The BMW X1 is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel mill that churns out 190bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. This unit comes mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
BMW 7 Series
BMW has launched its flagship sedan the 7 Series in India at Rs 1.11 crore. This car is assembled at the company's manufacturing plant in Chennai and is offered in two diesel variants which are locally produced. BMW is also selling the petrol version of the 7 Series which are directly imported in two variants. The German luxury carmaker has priced these variants from Rs 1.11 crore to Rs 1.55 crore (ex-showroom Delhi).
The new car looks much sleeker than the old car and even the interiors look much more premium. BMW has crammed in loads of features too and it definitely looks much more promising than the staid old car.
Audi R8
Audi has launched their flagship sports coupe, the Audi R8, for Rs 2.47 crore, ex-showroom, Delhi for the R8 V10+ version. The 2016 Audi R8 is the second generations R8 and takes its performance a step further. It is powered by the same 5.2-litre V10 direct injection motor which now makes a whopping 602bhp. The R8 also gets a heavily revised and faster acting all-wheel-drive Quattro system and power is channelled via a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
The new R8 is more compact and lighter than the old car which makes it more much faster and dynamically better. Inside, the R8 is finished in plush leather and the virtual cockpit themed cabin just looks on the money. This mid-engine super car will compete with the likes of the Maserati GT, the F-Type R and the Mercedes AMG GT.
Jaguar XE
Jaguar launched the much awaited XE in the Indian market at Rs 39.90 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. Like the bigger XF and XJ sedans the XE uses an aluminium monocoque design with loads of design cues borrowed from the F-Type sports car. This saloon will come with a choice of two 2.0-litre petrol engines with a power output of 200bhp and 240bhp. The more powerful version is capable of dispatching the 0-100kmph run in 6.8sec. The XE gets some unique features and comes with ASPC (all surface progress control), intelligent start-stop, Jaguar drive control, 20cm touch screen display, a Meridian audio system and a surround camera system. While the base Pure variant is priced at Rs 39.9 lakh the top Portfolio variant costs Rs 46.5 lakh.
