As we enter into the second half of this year, we have set of four new interesting cars which are due for launch this month. New car buyers will soon have more options to choose from which varies from SUVs to performance cars. Here below are a list of upcoming cars for July –
Volvo XC40
Due for launch on 4 July, the XC40 is the smallest Volvo SUV in India. The Swedish car manufacturer had started accepting booking the vehicle in May for a deposit of Rs 5 lakhs. As of now, only 200 units of has been allotted in the first lot for India. Built on the new electric-ready platform, the XC40 comes with the D4 diesel engine that develops 190bhp of power and comes mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. It gets the Haldex all-wheel drive system with a front-wheel drive bias. We expect Volvo to price the XC40 between Rs 40 lakhs to Rs 45 lakhs for the fully loaded variant.
Ferrari Portofino
Named after one of Italy's prettiest coastal towns, the sports car is powered by a 3.9-litre turbocharged V8 engine from the 488 GTB that generates 600bhp of power at 7500rpm and a whopping 760Nm of torque from 3000rpm. The engine power is sent to the right set of wheels through an automatic gearbox which catapults the car beyond 100kmph from zero in 3.5 seconds. With the roof up, the Portofino is capable of clocking over 320kmph and is one of the first GTs to get the new electric power steering. The Italian car manufacturer is yet to make an official announcement for its launch.
Porsche 911 GT2 RS
The track version of the 911, the 911 GT2 RS is expected to be launched in India this month. Last seen at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, it is expected to carry an upward price of around Rs 4 crores. Powered by a 3.8-litre, flat-six twin-turbocharged engine that generates 686bhp of power and 750Nm of torque. Mated to the ZF-sourced seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the vehicle is capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in just 2.8 seconds and achieves a top speed of 340kmph. Interestingly, the 911 GT2 RS also holds the Nurburgring record for being the fastest rear wheel driven car, with a time of 6:47.30.
Jeep Compass Trail Hawk
The new top-spec version of the Compass, the Trail Hawk was last showcased at a private event in March this year. The vehicle is expected to be limited to a diesel AT setup with cosmetic changes both on the inside and outside. The Compass Trail Hawk will be offered with a 2.0-litre diesel motor producing 171bhp/350Nm with a nine-speed AT, AWD and a low-range gearbox as a part of the package. The vehicle gets a contrast coloured roof and Trail Hawk specific wheels that have also been painted in black.
