The new BMW Z4 concept has been officially teased for the first time through the picture that you see and it promises to offer stiff competition to the likes of the Audi TT, Mercedes’ SLC and the Porsche 718 Boxster. The new Z4 will replace the outgoing second-gen model that’s been in production since 2009.
Since the caption states “Starting 17 August, the road will never be the same”, it could essentially mean that the car may be showcased at the 2017 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Reports state that the new car will use the same lightweight body construction as the i3 and i8. Also, power is expected to be sourced from a range of ‘TwinPower’ turbo petrol engines (both four and six-cylinder configurations) with power between ranges of 200bhp and 300bhp laid down on the road through the rear-wheel drive.
It is speculated that the new Z4 could also be offered with an M version that may end up with the 365bhp 3.0-litre straight-six motor from the current M2.That aside, the new Z4 also acts as a base for Toyota’s new super-coupe that could be christened Supra. This Toyota version will also be introduced with a plug-in hybrid variant down the line. Stay tuned for more information in the weeks to come.
