- New-gen RS7 expected in 2019
- Might get Porsche Panamera hybrid setup
Going electric or hybrid is akin to losing performance in most cases. But if you are an Audi RS7, that is not an option. Especially when your cousin is called the Porsche Panamera Turbo S-E.
So, cutting the chase short, exclusive images of the all-new Audi RS7, supposed to debut next year, now preview a plug-in hybrid. Also, with the RS7 being the first of the Audi-Sport RS line-up to undergo a revamp, all the subsequent models might also get the plug-in hybrid treatment to blend in with the new eco-friendly performance personas.
Also, it is being said that the RS7 being the flagship RS, will get the flagship powertrain. This includes 4.0-litre turbo-V8 currently housed in the Lamborghini Urus. It also includes working with a 140bhp electric motor just like in the Porsche. Now the Porsche makes 671bhp of combined output and that is certainly more than the current RS7 Performance which relies solely on internal combustion.
Also, the RS7 is expected to get more focused with larger alloys, stiffer suspension and improved aerodynamics. Just like the Porsches, even new Audis have started getting the full-length tail lamps, something which is expected to become a brand signature for both the German marques.
