Ahead of its anticipated launch later this year, the new Audi Q8 has been spotted on test once again. Based on Volkswagen’s MLB platform, the upcoming Q8 will be positioned above the Q7 and will compete against the likes of BMW X6. Earlier this year, the coupe-SUV was spotted on test for the first time. Once again, the upcoming vehicle has been spotted on test once again thereby hinting on its possible launch sometime soon.
The Q7 is a traditional SUV and these spy pics confirm that the Q8 will be a strict five-seater to maintain a more upmarket image as compared to the Q7. As all of its immediate rivals are five-seaters, it indeed makes sense that this vehicle will be limited to five-seat configuration. Moreover, the Q8 is expected to pick up the same engine, gearbox and underpinnings from the Q7 as it based on MLB 2 platform as the latter. The coupe-SUV gets all the conventional Audi design elements like the chrome strips, hexagonal grille, wheel design and C-shaped Audi tail lamps.
Given how Audi’s focus has moved from diesels to electric cars, it is believed that might be at least two to three hybrid options as well as one full electric version of the Q8 once it is launched. More details about the upcoming vehicle will be known in the days to come.
