The next-gen Audi Q5 was recently spotted on test in India. The SUV will be launched in January after the media drives conclude in the second week of the month.
In terms of looks, the upcoming Audi Q5 might look similar to the one already on sale in India. However, under the skin it’s a completely new car with a new MLB platform essentially for weight reduction. It is expected to be 100kg lighter than its predecessor. Like the larger Q7 model, this one will get a prominent front grille and angular headlights. The SUV will imitate the A4 sibling in terms of the virtual cockpit system and MMI system.
On the powertrain front, the new-gen Audi Q5 will feature six-cylinder petrol and four-cylinder diesel mills, with the option of manual and automatic transmission. We can expect Audi to add an AWD variant with the brand's Quattro system apart from the other FWD models.
Audi has been testing the new Q5 on Indian roads for quite some time now. We have seen the vehicle on test several times and looks to be very compatible for our market. We are expecting Audi to announce the variant-wise prices of the SUV in the second week of January 2018. It should be priced in the Rs 44 lakhs to Rs 55 lakhs price bracket.
