After much wait, Audi has finally launched the Audi A3 facelift in India at Rs 30.5 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi). The Ingolstadt-based automaker has introduced a fresh set of mechanical and cosmetic upgrades in its popular entry-level model. This newly launched model emerges as a strong competitor against the likes of Mercedes-Benz CLA, Volvo V40 and the BMW 1 Series.
Interestingly, this time around, the A3 from Audi is powered by a new 1.4-litre petrol engine instead of the older 1.8-litre variant. The new petrol engine comes mated to a seven-speed DSG that powers all four wheels while generating a modest 150bhp and 250Nm of torque. The diesel version is powered by a 2.0-litre unit in the 35TDI state of tune that generates 141bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. Powering the front wheels, the diesel version also gets a seven-speed DSG transmission.
The exterior of the new Audi A3 looks fresh with a revised grille and redesigned headlamps. Since, most of the design elements have been borrowed from the A4, the new car looks sportier and more aggressive than ever before. The new 16-inch alloy wheels enhances the look further along with the revised tail lamps featuring a refreshed LED lighting pattern. The interior carries forward most of the details from the current generation model. As for fresh changes, it now gets a wireless phone charger for selective phones in one of the cubby holes, seven-inch screen for MMI (multimedia interface), along with navigation and a reverse camera.
The entry-level offering from Audi has always been a considerable contributor to overall Audi sales in the country. With the launch of a new model the automaker will further witness a growth in sales along with strengthening its footing in the Indian market.
