Come September and Mercedes-Benz UK will introduce a host of changes for the E-Class. The luxury sedan will soon feature more power, lower emission and a new 9-speed gearbox for the E350 BlueTEC range consisting of the sedan, estate, coupe and the cabriolet.
Developed in-house by Mercedes, the new 9G-Tronic gearbox will available in the E350 BlueTEC version which now produces 258bhp, 6bhp more than the outgoing equivalent model. The CO2 emissions, too, have been reduced by up to 17 g/km.
The E220 BlueTEC, meanwhile, will see an increase in power from 170bhp to 177bhp, with a reduction in CO2 emissions of up to 16 g/km. The E220 is still being paired with the 7G-Tronic gearbox. Mercedes has also revealed that Collision Prevention Assist Plus will be fitted as standard across the E-Class range.
Keeping the high-performance E63 AMG version aside, the current E-Class range in India is offered only with 4-cylinder petrol and diesel engine configuration. Mercedes-Benz India is expected to launch bigger V6 engine variants for the E-Class. With that, there is some chance that the luxury automaker would also introduce this new 9-speed gearbox.
