The hot-selling Maruti Suzuki Alto has been updated for 2019. More importantly, the updates include crucial safety features as standard across the range for a nominal price hike, depending on the model. Here’s what all you can expect in the new Alto range for 2019.
Updated design
The basic shell remains the same as the old car, however, there are a few noticeable changes inside out. For starters, there is a new grille design and fog lamp housing while the updated bumper and side fenders differentiate the 2019 model from its predecessor. Inside, the dashboard has been slightly revised with a new instrument cluster and a different centre console layout.
New music system
The 2019 Alto gets a new music system called Smart Play Dock. This updated unit is Bluetooth enabled and comes with a new look, over the old system. Additionally, Maruti is also offering keyless entry for the Alto.
New Safety features
Perhaps the most important update on the new Alto are the additional safety features. You get ABS and EBD as standard. Other standard safety features include reverse parking sensors, a driver airbag, speed alerts and seat belt reminder for both driver and co-driver. Maruti says the new Alto also complies with upcoming crash and pedestrian safety regulation.
BS6 petrol engine
The 796cc, 47bhp petrol engine has been updated to meet BS6 emission norms. To achieve this regulation requirement, Maruti has upgraded engine hardware and software alongside some changes to the exhaust system.
Available in up to six colour options, the 2019 Maruti Alto range is priced as follows:
Alto BS VI Std – Rs 2.93 lakhs
Alto BS VI LXI – Rs 3.50 lakhs
Alto BS VI VXI – Rs 3.71 lakhs
